GANGTOK: Sikkim Tourism Minister BS Panth said on Sunday that he has tested positive for coronavirus and is isolated at home.
In a post on social media, the 69-year-old minister said: “I tested positive for coronavirus. I was isolated at home.”
Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19s in the Himalayan state rose to 32,719 on Sunday, as 70 people, 25 more than the day before, tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.
51 cases were reported in eastern Sikkim, followed by 13 in western Sikkim and six in southern Sikkim.
Sikkim now has 218 active cases of COVID-19, while 352 patients have migrated to other states and 31,740 people have recovered from the disease.
The recovery rate stood at 98.1%, according to the bulletin.
The state’s coronavirus death remained unchanged at 409, as no deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours.
Up to now, up to 2,882,349 coronavirus samples have been tested in Sikkim, including 576 in the last 24 hours.
