Dimapur, July 12 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal on Tuesday notified that overloaded vehicles would not be allowed to ply as per Section 194 of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
All offenders will be liable to be punished with a fine of Rs 20,000 and an additional amount of Rs 2,000 per tonne of excess load as well as the liability to pay charges for offloading excess load, the notification stated.
The DC also reiterated the Nagaland State Transport Department’s notification prohibiting the movement of any transport vehicles beyond three-axle, including semi-tractor articulated trailers with carrying capacity of 30.5 tons or more, between Dimapur-Mao Gate for 25 days from July 18 to August 11.
It said that prohibition of upward journey of the above cited vehicles will not be permitted from Dimapur with effect from July 15 midnight.
It meanwhile advised the goods transport vehicles to carry only the permissible weight as per the Registration Certificate and obtain a weighing measure certificate from the weighing station.
It further informed that there are three weight stations in Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts: Sarawgi Weight Bridge, Golaghat Road, Dimapur; OM Weight Bridge, Diphu Road, near Dimapur Government College, Dimapur; and 7 Mile Inter-State Truck Terminal, Chümoukedima.
