Dimapur, July 24 (MExN): Members of the Dimapur District Planning and Development Board have unanimously agreed to purchase a Truck Mounted Sweeping and Cleaner Machine with the seed money allocated for Dimapur district, a state DIPR report informed on Sunday. The idea for buying the hi-tech sweeping machine was mooted by DPDB Chairperson and MLA Moatoshi Longkumer, basically to keep Dimapur city clean.

Addressing a DPDB meeting on July 22, Moatoshi informed that the machine would cost Rs 31 lakh whereas the common pool fund for Dimapur was Rs 23 lakh. In this regard, the MLA said he would approach the concerned authority for the remaining requirement, and also appealed for contributions from the members, the report stated.

The House agreed with the idea and Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Sachin Jaiswal also assured that he would extend full support towards the cause.

According to the DIPR, with the numerous proposals for registration of societies, Moatoshi felt the need for authorities to monitor the registered societies and their current performance on the ground and to see whether they are living up to their aims and objectives.

The DC also reminded the members to attend the monthly DPDB meetings regularly, it said.

Other agendas of the meeting included shifting of Grace Christian Mission School at Diphupar to Nihoto Village.

Considering the consistent good performance and also for fulfilling all the criteria, the House also recommended for grant-in-aid to Lampstand Higher Secondary School, Toluvi. Proposals for registration of companies were also discussed and recommended by the House.

The Principal of Dimapur Government College, Lilanthung gave a presentation and informed the House about the ongoing activities of the college, weaknesses, strength and way forward, and the meeting ended with a note of thanks from the chair.
