Combined annual NCC camp underway in Dimapur

Dimapur, July 14 (EMN): A ten-day combined annual training camp (CATC-44), organized by 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC, Kohima, got underway on July 11 at Vidhya Bhawan Higher Secondary School in Dimapur.

In his inaugural address, Brig. PS Sangwan, Group Commander of NCC Group Headquarters, Kohima, encouraged the participating cadets to take keen interest and make the best use of the camp. Stating that the youth of Nagaland have enormous talent, he encouraged them to have pride in uniform and culture.

He further advised the cadets to start planning their career and choose their aim in life correctly.

An update from the camp commander, Col. Daniel Lotzem, stated that the aim of CATC-44 was to impart collective training to NCC cadets with special emphasis on the development and qualities of leadership.

The main emphasis of the camp, according to him, was to develop qualities of character, comradeship, discipline, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship, ideals of selfless service thus having a bearing on all round development of cadet’s personality.

During the camp, cadets would be trained in weapon handling, drill, map reading, military subjects, firing and subjects on national integration and nation building. Besides, inter-company competitions on debate for senior group and extempore speech for junior group would also be organized during the camp.

The cadets would also carry out various social service activities such as Swatch Bharat Abhiyan etc. during the camp.

The curriculum of the camp also included weapon display and band display by Assam Rifles, fire fighting demonstration by personnel from Fire and Emergency Services, Dimapur, as well as rescue and relief operation by personnel of SDRF, Dimapur.

Meanwhile, Col. Daniel Lotzem, has expressed gratitude to VK Saha, schools’ principal, and the school management in providing the campus and other infrastructures for conduct of the camp and also by rendering all assistances to NCC.

Report further two officers, one JCO, eight NCO, six NCC officers and 320 cadets from senior and junior divisions and junior wing of 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC and senior wing of 1 Naga Girls Bn NCC, Kohima, are attending the camp.
