Community Health Centers (CHCs) in the newly created 5 districts in the state are being upgraded to district hospitals (DHs), Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom informed on September 20.
Presently, there are 11 DHs in the state and the remaining 5 CHCs of the newly-created districts are in the process of upgrading October DHs, stated a written reply to a question from the Minister in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA).
In the reply to queries raised by NLA Member Kuzholuzo Nienu related to the status of DHs and related health matters, the Minister also informed that not all DHs in the state are treated as Trauma Centers, and only 5 are designated as such.
These are DH Mon, DH Tuensang, DH Kiphire, DH Dimapur and Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima.
Out of 5 Trauma Centers, the construction of Trauma Centers at NHAK is at 80% and for District Hospital Dimapur the civil work is completed and awaiting installation of equipments, he said.
The remaining DHs have Emergency Rooms dealing with trauma cases, he added.
Meanwhile, Pangnyu informed that there are 4 Dialysis Centers in the State – NHAK Kohima; Dr Imkongliba Memorial DH, Mokokchung; DH Dimapur and DH Tuensang.
All district HQs have diagnosis centers, he added.
On related query on whether there any laid down criteria or parameters, rules & regulations for opening of hospitals, health care centers and clinics in the state, the Minister said that it is governed by the Nagaland Health Care Establishments Act, 1997. It is applicable across Nagaland, I added.
