Guwahati: Amid the increase in COVID-19 cases, the Assam government will announce a new set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) on Friday, which is expected to put restrictions on large meetings and change curfew times. .

Head of Government Himanta Biswa Sarma the new set of rules, aimed at minimizing the spread of the virus, is expected to be announced on Friday.
Currently, night curfew restrictions are activated in Assam from 11:30 pm until 6 am the next day. Restrictions on public meetings and the mandatory use of masks are likely to be included in the new SOPs.
Meanwhile, Assam CM Sarma and Health Minister Keshab Mahanta met with senior state officials on Thursday to discuss the increase in COVID-19 cases. On Thursday, Assam registered up to 844 new cases of COVID-19 out of a total of 35,562 samples tested.
Assam’s COVID-19 positivity rate on Thursday stood at 2.37%.
Of the 844 new cases of COVID-19, 369 were detected in and around Guwahati City.
